We will be doing a special even station, a lighthouse activation Aug 14-15.  We would like a cheap and easy logging program.  We will not have internet for online lookup.

So, any suggestions?

Amateur Contact Log is as easy as it gets. It pretty much looks just like a paper log.  I like it a lot, and it makes uploading to LoTW a breeze.  And, he makes a whole bunch of specialized logs for contests, and events like field day, too.

N1MM Logger

You'll probably want a voice keyer, too.

Ham Radio Deluxe as always.

The free version is still available online.

I use a simple and free program called SQURL (sp?) for Field Day.
Here's a link Squirl logger

We used SQUIRL for the last two Field Days.  VERY good, perfect for that, but it does not accept enough info for what we need to do
for our special event.

Ham Radio Deluxe, well, just too much stuff in it, bloatware.  I used the logger before, did not find it satisfactory.  The only part I really
liked was Digital Master 780, and would still use it if it was a stand alone program, rather than part of HRD.

Guys, thanks for the other suggestions.

I use N3FJP's Amateur Contact Log.       Link

Its about $25.00 and well worth the money.  Updates have always been free.

Well, that's several suggestions for N3FJP's logging software.  I'll suggest this to the club.

Thanks, all!

I run DM780 stand alone.

How did you get rid of all the rest of the bloatware?  How did you extract DM780 from the full install?  As far as I know
you can't selectively install only DM780.

I have both HRD/DM780 on the computer, but only run DM780. It is the older free version running on an XP machine. There are two icons on my desktop, one for HRD and one for DM780. I'm not a computer wiz, but that's what is going on here.

I just started using klog. I talked with the developer about rig control and he has started a new logging program called kontest that I have been running as a beta.

Oh wait..

You still have all of HRD loaded in your computer.  You have HRD, logging, satellite tracking, automatic toilet paper dispensing, garage door opener, the works.

True, but I don't use any of it and I don't think it's running at all when using DM780. I'll have to remove HRD and see if DM780 will still run.

I don't think it's possible to remove HRD and leave DM780.

I've used it for a long time.  It's G2G.

I think you are right. I just looked in my program files and it shows HRD with the DM780 icon. On my desktop it has two icons and I only run DM780.

N3FJP also has logs specifically tailored to most of the major contests. They even offer networking so multiple stations can all operate from the same log like at field day.
