Quoted: Use the proper bulkhead. That way when something voes wrong or you change your setup you will have minimal headache. They make on for N connector, which if I have to I will go that way. http://www.tessco.com/products/displayProductInfo.do?sku=48367&eventPage=1 Danged if I can find the SO-239 version. Well, I can find a nice crimp on one for LMR 100, but I am running RG-8 and LMR 400 |

Nonsense.
Half measures are not going to cut it. Take charge of the situation, thus: Obtain 1/2 inch drill motor, and a 2 inch hole saw. Avoiding AC mains, structural studs, pets and small children, drill a nice clean 2 inch hole through the wall near your intended radio operating position. line your new hole with pvc conduit, or pipe, seal with caulk or silicone. Enjoy your new " through hull" fitting. . . . You don't truly OWN a vehicle or structure until you DRILL it. |

Why not just put a normal male end on your cables and use something like this?

You looking for these?: so239 Bulkhead 2" & several of the oversized nuts: Ovesized bulkhead nuts
I used 2 of these: Copper plates & a 1"x6" when I made my own bulkhead for under the window. Used a step bit to make wholes for SO239's & 2 large nuts on each side against copper plate. Also grounded with a bolt thru the plates to 8' rod below window. |

I bought one of these 8" bulkhead fittings: http://www.ebay.com/itm/310681801312?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Then I bought two of these stainless wall plates and installed one on each side of the wall: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151258289700 The black substance on the connector is liquid electrical tape to seal the connector from water intrusion. ![]() |

Quoted: Are you talking about an interior wall, or an outside wall? I have seen the through the wall double ended SO-239, but don't want to go that way. I don't have a problem with the cable going into the wall from outside (have already caulked the cable into the hole), I just wanted a cable hookup on the wall inside the shack, so that rather than unscrewing the cable from the back of the radio, I could unscrew the cable from the wall. The double ended ones require two fittings, one on the outside and another on the inside. There are already two N connectors on the cable coming down the pole, two more N-connectors on either side of the lightening suppressor a two PL-259 connectors on either end of the cable, so if I can eliminate one connector I would like to. |
