After a week or two of nothing new regarding contacts using JT65, this weekend seemed to come to life. Made a few obscure contacts...mostly on 15M.
Aruba Croatia Lithuania Grenada Kazakhstan Wales Indonesia Antarctica To mention a few. I will sometimes see some of these countries on PSK Reporter, but rarely on my monitor. Still get that excited feeling when you log a contact from a new country. 
Anyone else have any success this weekend with new and/or interesting contacts??? |

It took me long enough, but I finally managed to get Japan!
When they threw out the red flag at Bristol I decided to get on JT9, first 10 then 15 meters. Wasn't much activity, when I looked back at the buffer I saw a JH had made two CQs, got him on my first call. I rarely hear the far east over here on the east coast, and when I do there's usually a pile up that I can never get through. Now I just need AUS and NZ... |
| Lots of good DX here this weekend. I'm not using JT65 but have been chasing Myanmar all weekend. I could hear him on 10 and 15 but pretty light and only 80% copy on either band. He's on 20 CW right now with a great signal and I somehow managed to slip through the massive pile-up and got him! |

I was off from work on Wednesday for our second official blizzard of the year (the bastards waited until the last minute to close the college, I was just getting ready to leave the house). I was up anyway, so I jumped on the radio at 7:30am local, the sun was only up for a little while. At 8am I switched to 30m, and saw someone working a VK3. I live 20 minutes drive from the Canadian border, and see VA3s and VE3s all the time. Because it was early and I'm still foggy in the brain, I let it pass for about 10 minutes, then finally decided to answer the CQ. Yep, because I'm borderline retarded in the morning, it wasn't until I uploaded my logs later that evening that I saw a match for Australia.
The real miracle is that I have a 20m-6m OCFD in the attic, I usually don't get out all that well on 30m, because its too short. The tuner will tune it on 30m and 40m, but the performance is usually lousy. I'm still amazed I got Australia on 30m. The sun even shines on a dog's ass every once in a while
