| Anyone else been working the W1AW/P stations? This will be an easy way to get or finish up WAS or multiband WAS award. They are in UT & SC this week. Last week was SC & WV. They seem to be pretty active, although I only heard WV on a couple bands. |
|
Seems like I hear them, everytime I turn on the radio. According to the ARRL site, they will be operating from each state, at least twice this year. It can get confusing, though, because several different states use the same call sign (W1AW/4 for NC, and SC). And I guess there is going to be a "special" WAS certificate, if you work all of them.
So far, I have them in NC,SC,WV and UT. They have been very active on CW. But the one I really need is Oklahoma, and hopefully I will be able to hear them, when they get on the air. |

I hope you get OK kekoa it seems unfair that such a oddball state is kicking your ass. |

I often hear other stations talking to Oklahoma, but I just can't hear Oklahoma. It happens on SSB, CW, and JT-65. Sometimes I hear stations here in the DFW area, and I often hear stations 400 miles away. But OK is about 200 miles from my QTH, and it just seems to be the wrong distance for my antenna, on 10-20 meters. I'm thinking it would be pretty easy for me to temporarily hang a 40m end fed antenna in the back yard, and feed it with some coax right through the window in my shack. Might wait for it to warm up a little, though. |

Funny how nearby states are hard to get at times. I see OK & TX calls daily. Last Friday morning early before daylight (6:15am eastern), all my neighboring states were super strong on 40m JT65. Any other time & I never see them or they are very weak. Everyone scrambled to grab what they could. Fun while it lasted. HS |

Nebraska and Delaware will start operating tomorrow. Go get them! They are on now... 80m NE is a freaking zoo. Fortunately (for me), I don't need either one on SSB.....only CW and digital. The first four states were actually pretty easy to get on CW, and hopefully that will be true for these two states, also. |

Just snagged Delaware on CW, but darned if I can hear Nebraska, at all. And a bunch of Idaho QSLs just showed up in LoTW, too. Don't remember working that state 3 times on CW. I must be losing my mind. ![]() I can't hear NE to save my life either. And it is a state that I need on almost every band but 160m. Very frustrating. |

They have been on RTTY. Quoted:

I still haven't heard Nebraska, but I haven't really tried, today. But I did get Delaware on three bands yesterday, on CW. Now, if I could just figure out how to get them on digital.... They have been on RTTY. Yeah, but I can't figure out how to get through the pileup. And I can't even hear NE on RTTY.

I have my garage door on a remote switch. After I transmit on 20m it needs to be reset before it will open. Quoted:
EDIT: Oh, and I can still open the garage door, by transmitting on 20m CW. I have my garage door on a remote switch. After I transmit on 20m it needs to be reset before it will open. Dang, |

NY was blasting in on CW today, and was a pretty easy QSO. So easy in fact, that I got him with 15 watts (forgot to reset my power level again We'll see. EDIT: Hot damn! Now I know I got Oklahoma. Loud and clear on 40 meter CW. The stealth antenna pays off. |
