Okay, you guys have saved me from about 1000 mistakes, therefore, I only made about 2 thousand mistakes (I do learn mostly from doing, and that generally means doing it wrong to know HOW and WHY to do it right, just my nature).

My antenna is backordered, so won't be on the air until the end of the month or so, but I do finally have enough stuff to get my shack in order.

Here is what I have:

Left to right is the antenna tuner with an SWR meter on top of it, then the radio, and the power supply to the far right.

A top view of the back:

I have a #4 solid copper wire leading to an 8' ground rod just outside the house (about a meter or so run total) hooked to a ground buss and then a rigrunner power distribution strip (which you guys suggested and is just what I was looking for).  I know that I should use 1' copper flat for ground, but I cannot cut the correct hole in house, perhaps in the future.

My questions are these.

First, is there any particular arrangement that you would consider to be better than another as far as placement of equipment that I have (right now I will probably put the SWR after the antenna tuner, just to see what I am getting from the antenna, possibly tuning it to make the tuner work less).  My antenna will come in overhead through the ceiling down to the radio.

Second, there is like 6' of  power line going into the radio, and I like to cut things to fit then wire tie them up. Is there any good reason to keep all that length of power line going into the radio. Right now, I plan to run the power cord from PS to rigrunner strip (cut to the correct length, leaving in the fuses) and then use to cut lines to run from power distribution strip to radio.

First, I absolutely would NOT have electrical components near powder!  Get one or the other the heck away from there.

Assuming you did that I would move the PS away from the rig to minimize any RF hash showing up from it on receive

Yeah, the powder was moved, just hadn't done it when I set the stuff down there.

How far should the PS be to the rig (I assume that is why they put so much line going into the unit).

Trim your power wires to the shortest length possible this will reduce any voltage drop from having the wires to long. No reason to leave any of the fuses in the wires as the rigrunner is your fuse box. You may wish to save the factory cables, you can buy some wire of the appropriate gauge and some new connectors to make your own cables of the correct length to fix your installation.

That was what I figured, thanks.

I can actually start DOING something.
