I want to acknowledge a truly exceptional customer-service experience I had recently.

In early December, I bought a Palstar antenna tuner, model AT2KD, used, on Ebay. When I got it and hooked it up, I found it did not work (no meter response on transmit; no effect at all on receive) when coupled with my G5RV dipole.

Well, buying radio equipment used is always a gamble, so I figured I was out of luck. Just for the heck of it, I sent an e-mail to Palstar customer service in Piqua, Ohio, to see if they might possibly be able to fix the tuner.

I got a fast response from Palstar, saying send it in and we'll take a look.

Three days later (December 23) I got a call from a nice lady at Palstar, saying the tuner had suffered damage in shipping (probably, when it was first sent to me) and that a number of components would require replacement. I figured the cost would be in the hundreds of dollars and was resigned to telling them to keep it. Imagine my surprise when the lady told me "20 dollars plus shipping. Merry Christmas".

I got the tuner back from Palstar on December 27. It works great (so far I have been able to reach New England, Colorado and Arizona, with no amplifier on my IC-7200).

Hats off and a big thank you to the fine folks at Palstar.  I also posted this message on QRZ.

I too, bought a used Palstar, the smaller AT-500 used via the internet out here in the Northwest.
It was missing the 12V power cable. I know, a small issue, I could have just built it.
But, in wanting to keep things factory OEM, I called Palstar to see how much it would cost.
The gal there told me a low cost I was surprised at, so I asked her about the payment process, and she said, let me call you back.

I got an e-mail in an hour that said your part is on the way. (Surprise-surprise, they did not charge me for it)

I did not know Palstar was in Piqua, OH. That's right up the road from me and part of my territory for work. I may have to pay them a visit.

Not sure that's worth going to Piqua for.

I have a BT1500A balanced line tuner and a ZM30 antenna analyzer, both made by Palstar. Both are built like tanks.

I had a meter bulb go out in my tuner and they sent me 3 for free. They even paid the shipping.

Nothing but good stuff to say about Palstar here.

I had a really bad experience with them and their HF Auto. Paul was less than accommodating after the sale. I am glad they are better now because I think their manual tuners and dummy loads are good products.

I remember talking to you about your HF Auto tuner. Just teasing you.
