Ok, one of the things I wanted to try with the new KX3 was a random length wire antenna. I've always assumed the "random" word meant use whatever you have. My goal is to run a wire out the window frame behind my recliner and up to the one end of my dipoles. I was also going to drop another shorter wire as a counterpoise at the same time and attach them both to the BNC/banana plug connector.
How random is random? I thought I remember hearing that wg0at or whatever the goat guy's call is swore by 58'. What other things should I be considering here? Help. |
| Try the W3EDP Antenna It should do well as a QRP/ portable antenna. Since you have the ATU in the rig all you need do is cut the wire to length. 73, Rob |

That kind of explains the 58' idea. So my antenna would run from a tree at the far end and I want it to have a loop/strain relief at the eave of the house and then down into the window. Would the measured length be effected by the loop or would it just continue? |
| Lots of GOOD Arfcom stuff laying around....Like this thread I started 'back when' |

What is doubled back is not there, does not count. |
