Seems there have been quite a few extra upgrades recently, my name can now be added to that list. Just passed my Extra exam this morning, only missing one question. Went out to breakfast with the guys afterwards and had a good time. I really think I am getting in to this, just wish I wasn't limited by my funds. I have many interests, but this one just seems to click. Now I am going to concentrate on just getting something on the air for HF. I think I will also start learning morse code as well. Guys at the exam suggested using the Koch method and avoiding flashcards. I found the ARRL book and the included software to be great study tools. I like how the software lets one flag questions to study more later. I think I had almost 200 questions flagged after my first run through, but it narrowed down the areas to study more. I also used https://hamstudy.org/ (run by Icom) quite a bit when at work (during lunch) or traveling. Now the government just needs to get going again so the FCC can process my new call sign  |
