We had a company wide email about this today at work.  Big collection boxes full of these being replaced with newer, "safer" models.

I've got one at my feet that is affected. Have to get behind the rats nest of computer cables and wall warts to see about the other two.

Oh and I'd better check the home entertainment system. Think I've got a few there also.

Well damn. I have one here under my desk, that all the computer crap runs through.

Thanks for posting this, Hank.

Thanks!  Hadn't seen this yet.  I'm a big APC fan but don't usually bother with funny looking power strips.
My surge protector looks like:

Yes, a smartups 1400XL.  Also have a few smaller ones but they're in need of batteries again.
A good investment that has saved many thousands of dollars of computer gear over the years.
In fact the only I've lost to electrical problems in the last 20 years I was in too big of a hurry to move,
didn't feel up to dragging one of my large enough UPSs downstairs and lost it less than a week later to a lightning strike/power surge.
2 other computers were fine.

Pretty darn fast!

I submitted a claim on line this morning, and this afternoon I got an e-mail saying it had been approved. The processing time, however, takes 12 weeks.

Now, I don't have a clue what that means.   Are they going to send me a new surge protector, or a check, or what??

I submitted my claim for 2 this afternoon and on the form it tells what modlel that they are sending to replace the recall units.

I received my new replacement surge protectors this afternoon. Took about 6.5 weeks versus the 12 that APC suggested.

Got mine at the end of last week.

I got mine at the end of last week too.  I know several people who have gotten some but not all.  The Pro8 series seems to be shipping early.

While I'm not an expert, if you've got one as old as those covered under the recall (>10yrs), you should have replaced them long ago anyway.
