Passed the Extra exam this morning!
Overall, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Used a combination of Ham Test Online, HamStudy.org, and a few free PDFs that I found on the web. I guess it worked because I only got one wrong. Now if I could only get an HF rig setup I'll be in business.

Thanks everyone. It was this place (an Piccolo's posts in GD) that got me back into the idea of getting my license. I'm glad to have pushed through and kept up the studying momentum as well.

Congratulations! Are you sticking with your current call sign, or did you request a shorter sequential? Sticking with the same one for now. Maybe in the future I'll try my luck at getting a 1x2 vanity, but for now I'm fine with what I have. |

WHat are you trying to do in the HF area? Just trying to get on the air at this point. Eventually, I'd like to get into digital (and participate in the ARFCOM digital net) and maybe set up an EMCOMM box at some point. I really like the look of the IC-7200 from what I've read on here and elsewhere on the web, but that won't happen until next year so I'm probably going to see if I can find something inexpensive and local that will tide me over until then. There is a hamfest coming up this month in the area so I think I'll take a look there first. |

It was my first HF radio, it was easy to operate with minimal menus and goes used for $500-600. I paid $600 for mine and got a Heil gold line and factory boxes with all the manuals. I sold it to a buddy when I got my TS-2000 and he loves it. Plus when I upgraded to my 2000 all my accessories swapped over like sound interface, microphone, and rig control. |
