I plugged in my TM-281 last night and my first three memory stations don't show a frequency - they do show the Tone icon and the offset however.  I only have 6 programmed and the other three (4-6) were not affected.  I tried to reprogram 1-3, but they won't save correctly and the frequency still shows up blank.  I was about to do a factory reset but figured I'd check to see if anyone else has encountered this issue.  Any thoughts are appreciated.

Download the free programming software.

It makes programming a breeze. (Of course you need the cable to do it though)

I actually bought a cable and aftermarket software for mine. It's awesome. Once all the freq's are saved in the software, it takes about 5 seconds to program 100 channels into the radio.

I pull the radio out of my truck and program it on the computer in the house... rather than doing it manually.

thanks for the replies fellas.  I'm still a bit worried about what caused the corruption in the first place.  Have either of you ever seen this?  I put a support email in to Kenwood as well to see if they had any ideas.

Never saw that in the 2 that I've owned...but I've always used the free software

I've never had any trouble.

Mine get flaky sometimes when programming.
The issues I've noticed are...  sometimes it will display the frequency instead of the name I assign the channel. Sometimes the channel numbers don't match the programming.
I don't know what causes it... but it always clears up if I send the info to the radio a 2nd time.

I attribute this glitch to the fact I have programmed and changed frequencies probably a hundred times in the last two months.
It could also be because I never saved the original programming/config when I loaded my frequencies.

The buttons on my 281 are like overly sensitive. If you press some of those buttons for more than half a millisecond, it changes modes. You gotta have quick fingers.
