Was wondering if we wanted to do a SSTV get together where we all passed QSL cards around? I am a SSTV noob so I figure it would be a great way to get started.

Is there software to encode and send? How do you make the images? Got any decent links that explain how to: sstv?

I use MMSSTV also. Easy to import your own pics into it. I'll let it run when I'm away sometimes and review the recieved images when I get home.

Hmmmm. I was thinking of dabbling because of this thread. What about EasyPal and KGSTV? A lot of traffic in those modes, or just traditional analog?

After this recent  ARCHIVED THREAD - SSTV (for those who don't really know what it's all about) I didn't have much success getting MMSTV to TX.  Then, VRMN8R suggested using DM780 instead.  Since I already use DM780 for other digital modes, it was familiar and easy.

Don't forget about digital SSTV.....EasyPal.

EasyPal enables you to send Digital SSTV pictures using a standard HF SSB rig. DRM as used in Easypal, allows very fast data transmissions with error correction, enabling very accurate decoding, and a means to request missing blocks, this is all done within Easypal, and very simple to do. Images up to 1280x1024 are sent in a little over 1 minute, Easypal does compress images to shorten transmission times, but you have the ability to adjust the compression if unwanted artifacts are present in the image.

I don't really like EasyPAL because for the most part what they are going is up-loading
a picture to a web server then just transmuting the link to that pic over the air.

I still prefer the Traditional analog, I may get static lines in a pic, but it has been actually sent over the air.

That is not how I use it......EasyPal is direct via radio and DRM modulation.

I'm glad to see that you are doing it the right way.

The load the pic to the internet way had me pretty much left me wondering what is the use of it (I may as well just e-mail the pic)

One thing i do like with the analog if the signal is weak I still get a picture.
Yes I know the digital way can have the missing parts resent, but then it takes twice as long.
