I bought a Diamond SX-200 SWR Meter. My question is.... Can I use a CB radio antenna patch cable between the radio and the meter or is there a special cable to use? Thanks again.. |

Picture of power meter has been replaced with the real deal.

i also would like to turn a few pictures into the real deal. how do you make that work? what is the secret? (*) ar-jedi Quoted:

OP . . . yep -- a "CB patch cable" would presumably have the correct PL-259 connectors that the SX-200 has. IMO, a lot of gear targeted toward the CB market is really low quality junk, but unless the cable is physically defective or really really long, it should work for you just fine. |

Are you using BNC->PL-259 adapters everywhere? Those can be lossy and noisy in my experience. Only use them everywhere in the shack. Patch panel has (16) itself, each transceiver X 1, tuner and SWR/power meter each X 2, antenna analyzer x 1. Never had a problem getting power out to the antennas or noise issues. |

What would be the harm in using a 75 ohm cable? a pair of impedance mismatches at the ends of the cable. so not really harm per se, but also not good practice as some power will be reflected. the TX expects to output into 50ohms, instead it sees 75 ohms. the power meter expects a 50ohm input, instead it sees 75 ohms. 50ohm:75ohm resistive is a 1.5 SWR. ar-jedi |
