Well studied up and took my test on 07-13 and my call sign was just updated in the FCC database yesterday.  Currently I have the Baofeng UV-5RA, going to be looking for a base station radio to run from home soon.

Congrats Man!

Here's a good place to start! (2m base)

and you'll need a power supply!

This Prog Cable will work for the Baofeng and KW!

antenna of your choice

YMMV

Thanks guys I have wanted to get into ham for a while but just never got around to it. I have been listening trying to get the hang of things I think I am ready to get talking and I have a couple local 2meter reapters that are decently active.

Congrats, I have a UV-5R and for the money, it is an excellent radio. I have a Yaesu FT-2900 I have set up for home use and it has never let me down. No need for 440 in my area really and I liked the 75 watts.

Congrats and welcome to the hobby!
2 meter hand-held radio is mandatory to start posting on his sub-forum, IC-7800 must be purchased within a year to maintain your membership.
Will look forward to talking to you on the air! 73!

They are in Paris Texas?  That's not too far from me.  I wonder if they have a retail store.

ETA they do!

Will have to check them out next time I pass that way.
