Antenna: MFJ Magnetic Loop Antenna. I live in an apartment (second floor), so choices are limited.

Radio, I like the Kenwood TS-480SAT.

In August I have to take the General test, so I've been thinking in make it a birthday gift to myself

So what you guys think, go, go no?

With the mag loop you wont need to use the tuner on the Sat model, which means you could get the HX model but then I don't know about putting 200w into a mag loop.

But down the road a tuner is a lot cheaper to add than 100w.

If you are planing on using this as a base you could look at used too, I really enjoyed my TS-570. And then use the savings for a power supply, mic, computer interface, etc.

Good point, I didn't even think about that! You are right, the mag loop comes with a tuner. I think the max for the loop antenna is 150 Watts.

Thanks!
