G3 level, K index at 7. HF sucks, but 6 Meters along the Northern tier is supposed to be smokin'.

Nifty. Terrestrial storm blew through last night so yard work is out of the question. So time to play radio a bit right?

A Index of 22. Poop. Oh well I guess it's to the reloading bench.

The bands suck. I can get rid of the geomagnetic noise completely with my K3's noise blanker. But I can't do anything about the ionosphere's absorbtion.

JT9 and JT65 for win.  It was about the only thing that was working during the daylight hours.

I did made a 10,500 mile contact on JT9 (20m) the other night, but had zero luck on phone and CW.

I was receiving a station in Perth, Australia at -27db and made the contact using 10 watts into a dipole.

Just checked and the A Index is 51! I don't recall ever seeing it that high.

When the bands suck it's digital time. JT65 has been my go-to mode for a while. Yeah it's about as exciting as watching paint dry but I'm still amazed that you can do a QSO with 10w to Australia with crappy antennas. Have been tinkering with JT9 and so far it's at least equal to JT65. Think it may be another mode for the toolbox to chase DX with. Perusing the DX spots it seems that DX stations are going toward that mode especially on 40m and 80m.
