I'm the happy owner of a new FT3K.

I wrestled with the FT3K vs Elecraft K3 decision for 2 weeks. Bottom line, just not yet ready for the K3 for no more than I am on the air..

Anyway, I'm liking the rig. Pretty intuitive since I previously had an FT-950. (I still think the FT-950 is currently the best bang for the buck in a base HF rig)

Only small nit so far is that if you look sideways at the CLAR/VFO B knob it moves the sub display off 0. No way to adjust tension, might remove the knob and put a felt washer behind it for a little tension.

Anyone else?

Once you get settled with your new radio you may want to consider purchasing the Telepost LP-Pan 2. This along with a Creative EMU-0204 sound card will give you a 192 khz display like a Flex Radio. LP-Pan2 Link

The LP-Pan 2 and sound card will set you back about $360.00 or so, but they would certainly make your setup shine.

Pichers added per request.

The LP PAN is interesting. I've been following the FT-950 group threads on the SDR dongles and may try that out.

The FT3K has IF OUT so the interfacing with either one is a bunch easier.

I am wrestling with whether to get a LP Pan or the P# for my station.  They are wonderful, powerful tools.

That thing is useless, there isn't even a microphone!

What are you using for a mic?  I see that you have the EQ plus.  I want one of those things for no apparent reason...

Heil Proset 6. I'm a fan of headsets. Too many years in airplanes.

I actually have the 8 band and EQplus.

I'm going to let the 8 band go. The EQplus does the job well. The basic effect processor is the high point.

I have an 8 band eq in my K3, so I don't need that.  But the outboard controls for compression and the downward expansion would be really nice.  That and it looks really cool!
