Hey guys,

I just bought a Diamond F22A 2 meter base antenna from universal radio.
On U-R's site, they put up a diagram for the F22A which shows its radiation pattern.

I can't find anywhere in the manual for it, on how to set this antenna up.

When I get it, does it say something on the antenna itself on how to orient it?

Thanks guys,

-Joe

That graph is looking at the pattern from the side.  It's like a big donut, so orient it straight up and down vertical and you'll be good.  What they're trying to show with that is the antenna shoots signal out towards the horizon, which is where you want it.

It's a vertical..pointy end up

Its a vertical omnidirectional. Assemble, check swr, adjust length if swr is high.

Stick the pointing end up haha.

That antenna is omni directional so full signal in a circle. The pattern you linked to is a horizontal view.

Ahah.

I thought it was a top down view of the pattern! Well, thanks for answering my dumb question!

Not to confuse you but if you bought another one and spaced it right and fed it with the right amount of feed line you could make it directional...

You have to turn your house around to make it directional.

... and with 7 of them you can talk to the ISS using 5W.
