OK guys here's my choices for a first 2m HT: Yaesu FT-23R, Icom IC-T90A, WOUXUN KG-UV6D, or finally Yaesu FT-250R. Which one should I get? I have several repeaters within 1-10 miles.

That sure is a diverse group you have there.
Two mono banders a dual band and a tri bander and two are discontinued by their manufacturer.
If you're only interested in 2m, and only those radios, I'd go with the FT250.
Are you getting these used locally?
Otherwise I'd suggest a Yaesu FT60.

For a 2m mono-bander have you considered the Kenwood TH-K20A DANG fine 2m only rig! There is a review in the current QST.

+1 for a Yaesu FT-60R.

For 2M HT... check out the Yaesu FT-270R. Larger screen than the FT-250R and retains the brick-like qualities.

If I was going to buy another 2m only HT it would be another 270.

Still lovin' my FT-60!   Good basic radio with decent extra RX coverage.   EASY to operate!

All good HTs mentioned, but I still like the Yaesu VX-6 and VX-7 series.

I'll second the VX-7r. It's a great handie and holds it's resale.

Guess it is kind of late now but the Wouxun KG-UVD1P is real popular with the Plano club.

I've never used one. They seem to be getting popular...but it seems like mainly among newer hams and bargain hunters. I'll stay with my VX-7r. I've never seen an Alinco radio either....and they are 'less expensive' units too.

My opinion... get an inexpensive HT, because in a month you'll want a mobile to go with it.

2 local pd and fd here use them in the field 24x7. they have held up VERY well for them and frankly the tx/rx has surpassed what they got out of the 2170's they had at 1/3 or less of the price.

FT60 is what I have.  I hardly ever use it but it is a good ht.

My second one.  I am going to put my locked one in my wife's car and this one goes in my GHB.
Sorry I had to gloat since it is unlocked.

Ebay auction I just won

Awesome radio, I have two.  One very regular use and one in my BOB.  I also have a VX-7R that has been a great radio.

Lots of radio for the buck.
