I am looking to build my first small kit radio. I am pretty decent with electronics, But I couldn't build the space shuttle.
I am looking for the best bang for your buck survival style radio, that I can put in a glove box or even a pouch. Something like the altoids tin, But doesn't have to be that small. |

In a technical sense, a qrp CW rig is the most bang for the buck given a good antenna. 40M is about the best general do-it-all band. But, as somebody else posted what are you interested in doing. I'd say a good 2m FM rig with wide band receive is also a must. 73, Rob |

Check out the WILDERNESS RADIO SST. They are wonderful little transceivers, VXO controlled, 5 watts IIRC, about the size of a packet of smokes, case is included. I have one on 40 and wish I also had one for 20 meters. I live in MN and worked Mexico with a dipole about 6 feet off t]he ground some years back ...what a rush! |

Some of these are factory radios, others are kits. You can sort them by average review... |
