How can I just scan the transmittable megahertz? Do I need the pc cord and a cd?

Thanks

I assume you want to scan VFO between 144 and 148.  While I'm not sure how to limit the scan edges, you can easily scan up from 144 or down from 148:

1. Press the VFO button (V/MHz on the faceplate)

2. Press the Ent button

3. Enter 144000 with the keypad

4. Press and hold the up button for about a second

You can also enter 148000 and use the down button to scan down.  To cancel the scan press one of the arrow buttons.

I just want to scan 144-148 only, I have read the manual and have not found my answer.

It's on Page 39 of the manual, available here

"Scan edges programming"

Scanning the entire 2m band would be a very inefficient way to find activity.  It would be somewhat tedious, but simply programming all designated repeater output frequencies as well as the simplex channels would be a lot better, as you'd be skipping all the repeater inputs as well as band segments not normally used for FM.
