We are looking at a piece of property that has a large barn on it.  The barn has a metal roof.  If I was to run antennas from the roof or even inside the barn what kind of effect would the roof have?

If you install antennas under the roof, it will attenuate transmitted and received signals - and may also affect the antenna's impedance (i.e., high SWR).

Some vertical antennas work better with a ground plane below them - and a metal roof could serve that purpose.

The areas where individual pieces of metal roofing touch each other tend to oxidize over time, resulting in hundreds (thousands?) of little diode junctions - perfect for generating RFI.

An antenna inside the barn probably won't do very well. A vertical on top of the metal roof would be fine.

A mag mount would stay put
