| We are looking at a piece of property that has a large barn on it. The barn has a metal roof. If I was to run antennas from the roof or even inside the barn what kind of effect would the roof have? |

If you install antennas under the roof, it will attenuate transmitted and received signals - and may also affect the antenna's impedance (i.e., high SWR).
Some vertical antennas work better with a ground plane below them - and a metal roof could serve that purpose. The areas where individual pieces of metal roofing touch each other tend to oxidize over time, resulting in hundreds (thousands?) of little diode junctions - perfect for generating RFI. |
