Catching up on episodes of Ham Nation on TwitTV and they just showed this radio in Episode 16. I think I might like this for the truck when I'm ready to put an HF rig in there. http://www.elecraft.com/KX3/kx3.htm That is an add-on key on the bottom. Cute! ![]() |

We talked about the radio quite a bit in Dayton-vintage threads right after the introduction.

Want.
But how long has it been now, they have been teasing with this "coming soon" radio? And as was (maybe half jokingly) said upthread, everything will be extra. Still, the size and layout are clever. I can't be the only one to have imagined our favorite Yae-Com compact qrp rig with the controls moved from the small end of the brick, then expanded & laid out on the larger surface. I have to wonder when we'll be seeing more, and perhaps more weather friendly than this one appears to be. |

Quoted:
*Microphone, keyer paddle, antenna, tilt bale, mounting hardware, DC power cord, knobs, buttons, LCD, enclosure and cardboard shipping box available as extra-cost options... I see what you did there... This was part of the reason for my American radio love thread. Ok it was the whole reason. This little radio amazes me. it is pretty much the entire reason I have held off from buying a tablet is so that I can use that money for this. However I'm really starting to lean to the yaesu 857d 100w when I want/need it. plus it comes factory with 2m and 440. I know they are talking about a 2m add on but thats just what it will be. an add on. more cost. |

Well lets not forget that it has a PSK decoder and the ability to send PSK 31 via the paddles. It is interesting that it is basically a stand alone Software Defined Radio, so the ability to upgrade a lot of features by software updates. If they can keep the price in the projected price range it will be a very popular rig. |
