I was listening to him talk a bit ago and now just got a chance to look at his page on qrz.com. Go look him up and see the tiny little radio collection he has gathered |
|
Quoted: That is an amazing collection. It was brought up here a while back and apparently he rents out cabins or something there. I was thinking an ARFCOM weekend getaway there would be cool. I heard him mention that he cleared out some rooms so they could rent them out to folks to help pay the bills. I hope to hear him again so I can make contact. |

Actually they run a "Ham Hotel" with a number of places to stay at the Farm - The Apple House, The Apartment, and the The Cottage. The Ham Shack can take some overflow. George & Family live in the main house unless a main house remodeling is underway. Links are off his QRZ.com listing. Unless the antennas are down (happens due to weather and wear & tear) or the shack is down (also happens, usually because the power is out) or George is away or bus, you will usually catch him on the air every day. Often you will catch him during the Teenager Net (which means you were licensed way way back when, where he is often net control) or the Everynight 160m net. After that it is up in the air as to what he fancies to run/work that day. On may radio blog (link below) I've often written about my visits to Greengate and the trips made to Dayton & the W9DXCC together with George W9EVT 73 Steve K9ZW http://k9zw.wordpress.com/ |
