I just talked to this guy in Belgium, he just finished the WAS award. He just finished doing it for the 9th time. He's completed WAS on 9 different bands. So that's at least 468 contacts between the US and Belgium. I didn't hear what he was running for equipment, but damn. I don't think I'm that dedicated. |

It's purpose is for skeds to help complete awards primarily with LoTW QSLs. We've got one guy, a Tech, who almost has Basic WAS. Just missing a few states to complete it. And yes he's doing CW on the lower bands and taking advantage of 10m being open for phone. Buying that guy a beer when he gets it. In the late afternoon we have many DX stations checking in. Lots of EU, Austrailia and Russia. All trying complete WAS on some level. One day this week I checked in and spent the next 2 hours working nothing but DX. Seemed every station needed LA on some band or mode. Some had no path but was able to complete a QSO with some. Some people have a disdain for the page but I've learned more about real world propagation since I've been on the page than I would have learned otherwise. And a friendly bunch too. |
