Hey all my fellow hams! If anyone wish's to come to my new forum and help or give advice on setting it up would be greatly appreciated!
I am sure it will take me a while but it's brand new, I'm saying it was just posted tonight! Still have a LOT to do! I hope I do not break any forum rules here, if I do just delete! Here is the link if you wish to partake in this adventure! http://w8osp.com/forum |

The first thing I would do - before playing with the graphics, adding forums, etc - is to ask yourself "Why?"
What are you gonna bring to the table that the other ham-radio-related sites don't offer? We have: QRZ - noted for its callsign lookup system, and for being the longest-running venue out there (albeit with an overly constrictive set of rules) Eham - nice Reviews, News and Articles discussion area; forums are like the wild, wild west - no moderation is as bad as too much; Hamsexy - where all the cool BatKids hang out. Language can get pretty rough if you're into that sort of thing, but overall a cohesive lot. ARFCom's HR area - focuses on the beginning ham, mobile ops/survival prep QTH - primarily a sale venue but with a feedback board...which can get very animated on occasion, though Scott and Al usually keep things in good shape Island of Misfit Hams - the only HR site that (to my knowledge) still allows open and unfettered discussion of politics. An oft-told but incorrect 'Net rumor is that a prospective member has to have been banned from at least one other site to be eligible for membership. And let's not forget all the CB/'Freeband' sites, scanner/ute/SWL forums, manual download sites, etc. Define your mission. Make it unique amongst the amateur radio (or, radio in general) community. Give your members something that they're not going to get anywhere else. |
