There is a used one for sale locally for $245. Good price? Anyone have any experience with this rig?

ETA: Says it includes Icom power supply but no mike.

From what I,ve read about them you need the factory supply. It puts out 17+ volts so it won't run a standard rig if you intended for it to do double duty. Voltage regulation occurs in the rig itself. I have had experience with the IC-720a's (the 701's replacement) and they aren't the greatest either. The clunky motor driven band switch can, and probably will, fail or become intermittant requiring repair. If you are looking at a used budget rig, then look for an IC-735 or other rig from that era (mid 80's early 90's). Lots of better choices for the $$.

Yeah, after reading the reviews they don't seem too favorable, especially on the vfo control motor. I guess I will hold out for a bit and get the IC-718 . Thanks
