Well I'm not sure what I did, I've tried the yahoo groups, but I get smart ass responses like try reading the help file which I have done 3 times! Hers the story. When I try to launch a winmor wl2k session when the virtual TNC tries to load I get a a message to the effect of initialization failed because they could not open port 8500. So here is what I have done so far.
First I went to fldigi to see if that still worked with my signalink usb, it didnt, well I uninstalled the drivers and re-installed them..ok good back in business, well winmor still is giving me the port conflict message. Then I go to the help file and follow the instructions 3 times on port conflicts. There is nothing fishy there, my firewall is clear for those ports and doing the nestat command shows only winmor having that port. The only thing I can figure is there is something on my computer end screwed I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling rms express 3 times with no luck. I'm hoping there is some sort of computer expert here that can help me. I know my signalink is fine and I can run other programs such as fldigi with out trouble. There has to be something in my computers software messing my works up. |

Try sending an e-mail describing your problem to Steve Waterman, K4CJX, and see if he has ever run across your problem. He's a great guy. [email protected] |

try reading the manual
Oh put a sock in it! I got that from the egg heads in the winmor forum. Yes I read the manual. I half figured out the problem! When I turn off the my wifi card I can run WINMOR. When I turn the wifi card back on...no joy. So I ran "netstat -p tcp -ano" with the wifi card on and I see port 8500 and 8501 with a PID matching WINMOR. When I run that netstat command with the card on I only see 8501. My network-FU is all tapped out..not too sure what to do now. Funny thing is someone posted the same question as me...same exact problem. Its like some sort of software update is behind this problem! Still need help if anyone has any thoughts. |

I've been a WINMOR beta tester and an RMS Winmor sysop since it started and I can absolutely confirm that the demographic on the yahoo groups is, well, let's just say "pretty poor" to keep it polite.
Just go into the setup on both the main application and the TNC application and change your base port number to something that is not in use. Remember that it will use the port number you choose plus the next one, e.g. 8550 and 8551. Close the app's and re-open. Let us know how you make out with that. |
