I'm looking at radio programming cables and software from RT Systems ( http://www.rtsystemsinc.com/ ). I have multiple radios I'd like to get cables for. Do I only need 1 copy of the software or is the software specific for each radio?

Got an answer from RT. The software is specific to each radio. So you have to buy a copy for each different model radio you have. Expensive

There are better cables and software out there than the RT systems software. For software http://www.g4hfq.co.uk/ and for cables http://valley-ent.com/catalog/. Some cables can be used for multiple radios. Which ones are you programming?

What radios are you using?  There are a lot of 3rd party/free software packages out there that can be used depending on the equipment.  Even the cables can sometimes be compatible with more than one radio model.

The RT software is terrible.  I recommend buying the FTB software from G4HFQ.  It's like $15 if I remember correctly.
