Been involved with radio (SWL/scanner/ute listener) and electronics since roughly 1969.

First licensed as a Novice in 1979; Advanced two years later. Extra in '99.

I've lost count of the number and types of equipment which have been in and out of the shack over the years. Currently, the main operating spots are comprised of 2x TS-940S (SO2R), 2x IC-751A/R71/IC-2KL/AT-500 and a few FT-726Rs, with a lot of receivers/VHF-UHF mobiles and scanners making up the balance. Most of the equipment was obtained non-operational and has been restored.

Also help out over at The Island of Misfit Hams forum. Its political discussion area is a lot like ARFCom's GD.

I was issued my license in 1983, I think....  General class.  I was big time into MARS.

Same old boring callsign –––– KA8WGH.

I live in NC, I was thinking of getting a vanity, just have not go around to it yet......  73 de KA8WGH

Sad that I do not use my amateur gear at all.  My dad pasted away and we used to ragchew.  Also, the 2m band kind of turned into CB radio.   I suppose the mobile phone and internet have made ham radio kind of antiquated.
