damn, timing was just a little off. i checked here just after 11 and saw nothing. maybe next time. have to make the trip again in a few weeks. there is a radio shop(according to google) atlantic communications. didnt get a chance to stop there because my wife cant tell time. she text me and said i had 45 min, then 10 min later text me that she was done. so my exploration was short lived.

When I called them, they basically only do .gov contracts and various other commercial communications. But it may be worth a shot to give them a call, maybe if there is enough people calling and asking they will start carrying some stuff. It is not like there is a lack of people, the Repeater list for this area is only 2.5 pages long!

Next time you head this way shoot me a PM, I will give you my call and listen on the frequency.

yep., i can do SSB on 2m now that i have a good rig. now, the problem is i just have to figure out how to work the damn thing. i have a yagi i should be able to use for SSB, just have to change its orientation. going to work on getting the antennas up this weekend as long as the weather cooperates.

Day late and a dollar short, but there is a radio shop in NN: Hilton Sport and Hobby.  No new radios, but plenty of other gear to keep you busy.  In fact, its the only radio shop that I know of within 100 miles of Norfolk.  They also sell guns

there is a kenwood dealer in either Va beach or Norfolk. i know they have a repair shop but not sure if they have radios on hand. also if you need some odds and ends the radio shack in the mall there on jefferson actually has a decent selection in there electronics corner. my local RS only has 2 of the cabinets, this place has at least 5 as well as hobby boxes and even circuit boards.

i will check that place out next time im over there the problem is they are closed on mondays so it wouldnt have mattered this week.
