Some of you may remember that our 140 ft club tower was destroyed in a severe storm last June. ]

It has now been nearly 5 months since we set the new 100 ft tower to replace it.  The new tower and antennas have been working excellent and we have had some very good scores in contests.

Here are a few pictures of us setting the tower.  I know these are late but I didn't take them.  (was working on the tower so am in some of them)

I'm using my lift to attach the TH11DX and 5 element 6 meter beams to the tower before raising it all the way.

We set the tower in 2 sections.   the first 38 ft with solid legs was set then the tube leg section was set on top of that.

The coax coils are at the bottom of the tube portion.

attaching the top portion of the tower.

Work complete,  sling taken off and climbing down.

Cool pics.  Balancing act for the crane must be incredible.

After this was completed I used the lift to install a sidearm at 40 ft for the weather instruments.

No pictures of that work.

That's nothing.

I've had 300's cribbed up so high on one side I could park my truck under it.

We set the tower on a friday and I had to take the lift back on monday to retrieve the lines hanging from the sidearms. (for the wire antennas)   After pulling the 40/80/160 meter antennas up someone didn't tie them off properly and they came loose and blew into the trees.untangling them from the pine trees was harder work than setting the tower.

I hate when that happens.

The club was trying to go cheap.   I went to my climbing gear and took some used carabiners and tied them on properly so hopefully we don't have that happen again.  It took about a half day to set the tower... took more than that to retrieve the lines.  That monday was cold and windy.  Not a nice day to be working on a tower.

Unlike one video that is famous on the internet..... we were using harnesses and safety gear to climb.

To meet OSHA requirements I should have had the harness on while working in the lift bucket.

Those silly guys who mandated that I wear a hardhat while working in a factory that moved 27 ton steel slabs using a suspended crane

hey now, that hard hat will make those 27 tons seem like nothing. its a lot like duck and cover, you cant explain how it works, just know that in the end you will be safe.
