I am in the process of adding a lot of repeaters onto my VX6 memory banks and am having problems.

This is on my dell laptop that is ancient, Windows xp pro. When I programmed before, it was on my tower, but the video card is.gone in that computer and they no longer carry AGP2 video cards.

Error codes are coming up for the comm ports, and on the radio.

The initially wiped out the current memory, but would not write the new inputs, and if it does act like it is writing it just hangs there and goes no where.

Then to get the program to stop and restart, I have to basically force close and restart the computer, all to no avail.

Can someone lend any help?

Thank you,

have you updated the software.  I notice they release new versions with fixes every few weeks. Its under the help tab.  Also are you using the usb software or the older stuff?

No on the update, yes on the USB.

Thank you for your response.

There is no update under the help tab.

There is only "about" and the "help" word doc.

I do notice that I was sold a beta version 0.2.0 and not a final version so that may very well be the difference.

I contacted Jumbo at the email listed a couple of days ago and hqve had no replies yet.

I see no new versions on Home site, and just re-downloaded the zip file, opened it, and it seems to have gone back, to version 0.1, unless he is using a count down instead of a count up approach to the final write.

I think my VX6 is wiped out and I need a new one.

I am still not able to nail down a usable comm port.

Does ANYONE have any viable ideas.

Thank you. I did not simply because I have only usedbthe cable maybe six times. However hooking up my US370s, I had zero success also, so I just ordered two new cables. We will see if that fixes the problem.

What web site did you get yours from?

The authors site only has my version on it.

Well, I finally received the new.cables and nothing has changed.

The computer says wrong port, or port not valid, and the radio says error age I try to read or write.

Does Do you all think I need a new radio?

is your cable USB? have you installed the drivers for it(the cable, not the radio)?

Have you run the free Interface Cable Loopback Tester from KC8UNJ?  It is listed under other software and should tell you what com port to set your program for.

One other thing, make sure your keypad is not locked before you try to put it in clone mode or it will never go past that point to read or write.
