In case any of our newcomers are confounded with Q codes, here is a link to a page that has a comprehensive list of them.
ETA (Q codes correspond roughly with police/CB "10 codes.") Q codes have their origin in the 'good old days' of CW, before phone was even invented. Q is relatively little-used in the alphabet; it made sense to someone to use it as the start of a special set of codes. When you hear Q, that means a Q code is coming (usually). Nowadays, Q codes are used by most everyone–– and if you know your codes, you are sort of 'salty!' Used correctly, both Q codes and 10 codes can relay a great deal of information in a very short time. |
