Found a used one for $150

Good idea? Bad idea? No desire to have to spend $300 to fix a used radio.

Figure if I spent the $ I'd probably go get my tech and gen

Good price if it has all the pieces and works. I've had one for 2+ years and use it at every event I work. Great little radio and tough as hell. You may end up buying a new battery, but you'll want a spare one anyway.

The whole "if it works" thing has me concerned

I have a VX-7r. You won't find a better radio especially for that price....I have to vote for the "if it works also". That price is almost too good to be true.
