| I just took a magnet mount CB antenna, stuck it to my heat pump and with 2 watts talked 1860.9 miles with my 817 SSB. Got a 5/6 report too. I like this QRP thing. |

years ago I hooked up a 100watt light bulb to my antenna tuner
I was goofing around watching the bulb light up on my voice peaks, when a ham in Florida asked if I was gonna Id with my callsign. it was a clamp on lamp with a coiled cord, laying on the floor 10 meters is cool. when the band is hot, you can easily crank your mobile down to 5 watts and still be heard. |
