Google pro-164 for more info and mods.

I own one, they're a nice little analog trunking handheld scanner. $50 is a deal IMO. It won't do digital, but that's about the only drawback. Can it be programmed from a computer interface?...I'm going to download the manual today. One of the guys in our group is bringing down a digital scanner....300 ch.... I think..... 12v or 120v...for the COMMs box. |

Software that works for the GRE PSR-300 (which is essentially the same thing) works with the Pro-164 as well. The win### software from Starsoft is the best s/w I've found for programming my PSR-600: http://www.starrsoft.com/ It interfaces with Radioreference and makes programming these things easy when it comes to trunking. Win97 is what you'd want once you have a USB interface for it from Radioshack. |

Takes all the pain out of it. I use my pro-97 for basic stuff like local police/fire bands and weather with SAME alerts, and it works great. I'd also recommend this antenna. It helped boost my reception a noticeable amount. Diamond RH77CA Antenna |
