I've managed to get BPQ32 up and running on RF. That means anyone within 20 miles is probably tired of my beacon spamming every 10 mins. I've also linked to another BBS in WI and have an invitation to link to another OH BBS which should help me get in the state network. I guess I need to start figuring out more permanent equip!

Old gear is perfect for this application - You don't miss it in everyday operation, and it's no big deal if lightning takes it out!

Wish I could get packet running. I'm on Linux, though, and can't seem to get the blasted AX.25 port defined.

I got your message!

WOW! I bet the sysop was a postman, "the message must get through...". I've got the station torn down at the moment making room for the new TNC or I would have gotten it direct on HF. Once I'm back on the air, I will try to connect with this BBS on a regular basis.
He sure is one hell of a sysop.

That is just impressive. There was no need to go that far, that's for sure.

It also ruins the fun of leaving "easter eggs" around the packet bbs world for others to find.

Seriously....Did everyone around Newark/Columbus Ohio stop using packet? I have been monitoring the normal VHF packet freqs and heard nothing.

According to this Maidenhead Grid Calculator, Columbus OH would be grid EM89.

If you go to the Winlink Packet Status Monitor page and then click on the Grid column to sort by grid location, it'll show any recent packet activity in the Grid EM89 area.

When I checked just several minutes ago, there were two stations in the Columbus area who had transmitted packets within the last 4 hours - one on 145.090, and one on 145.070:

No, KB8UVN should be active in that general area with links all over. One of them would be me.
