| Just wondering, its my new favorite place to hang on arfcom. |

Quoted: http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/sfcommspatch2.gif http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/sfcommspatch.gif I didn't make these, but someone a few years ago did, unknown if he's still around. I like the round patch, but the antenna needs to be on top. Take this one and reduce the font size on "COMMUNICATIONS", put a tower on top maybe add the lightening bolts, underneath crossed rifles or something else that doesn't look ramboish. LOL new word BTW I am no good at Latin. What is the translation? ![]() |

BTW I am no good at Latin. What is the translation? "To communicate is to live" or "To live is to communicate" according to Google. Count me in for a couple of these patches if they are offered. ETA: "live to communicate" from another online Italian translator. |

Where do you find Google Translate for Latin? I can't seem to find it. I know a Jesuit trained linguist I will run "vivere per communicare" past, as I am not working it out myself. Don't think we should emblazon a logo off a Goggle Translation alone - as machine translations are fraught with literalism that is goofy, to humorous, to outright embarrassing to linguists. 73 Steve K9ZW |

I found this through the "language tools" tab on the main google search page.
Google Language Tools One of the first couple of results is one "definition". |

for all you new guys, this was floating around the board 4-5 years ago. i can't even remember who made these designs up. i just copy/save as at the time thinking i would take it to a local tshirt shop and get a couple made..
the Latin phrase is something like "communicate to live".. alot of research was done on this at the time. I think we went w/o using "ar15.com" for copywrite reasons... any more ideas?? open to all.. this is just my 2 cents.. |

Got it - it is a translation from Modern Italian, not from Latin. That had thrown me off. Thanks! I'm waiting for my friend to email back (he is UK based) but in Latin I've suggest to him "Vivo est communicare" as it comes over with a strong sense of "sharing" through the root word of communication to my English-centric take. More when I get a reply from the prof. |

I got way too much to post - discussions of Classic Latin vs Church Latin vs..... "Lacuna Relevo Atrum" was suggested. atrum : dark, gloomy. ...... lacuna : missing letters, words, or phrases in a manuscript. lacuna : a hole, empty space /pond, pool /deficiency, loss. ...... relevo : to lift again, lighten, alleviate, relieve. ... I give up.....What does this mean, please

It might take days to get an answer with him gone to SHOT.So, where do we stand with making this Ham Radio patch happen? I would love some more patches for BOB's, GHB's, or where ever else you want to put 'em. We could even have stickers / decals also. I'd buy several of each of these just as they are. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/sfcommspatch2.gif http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/sfcommspatch.gif What's it take to get these in the site's online store like the bolt face logo items? Should be the same process like the Arfcom Survival Forum patches. http://home.comcast.net/~gregbell/CamelbakSFPatchClose.jpg |
