Well I finally got my end fedz 20m antenna semi rigged up today and fired up the new ts480sat radio. Kinda interesting hearing HF for the first time out. Most of the noise was around s3 and I managed to find a couple of qso's going on, one in florida and a guy out in kalifornia running a 900watt amp. My antenna is only up about 20' in the NNW sloping down to about 5' in the SSE direction. I didnt try to transmit until I can get things more situated and learn more about how to run this thing. ha guess the good thing is at least I achieved one milestone |
| sure not getting much of anything on the 40m end fed, its actually more of a flatop than sloper, think i heard one qso going. otherwise nodda, just for giggles i flipped it over to 3.814mhz and heard the clearest signal ive heard all day. I figure they must be local guys ragchewing. |
| Not sure. It's only happened twice. Last week I tried checking in to our 80M phone net and it kept doing it. I thought it was a low battery because that's usually what happens when it's too weak to power it. I checked my Whattmeter and it was fine. Last night I was trying to make a PSK contact when it happened again. I swapped antennas and it seemed to work ok. Then I went back to the other and it still worked. I'm going to check the random wire when I get home. Maybe something's come loose and I have an intermittent problem. Nothing has changed in the shack. |
