Looking on opinions of what you use as logging software? I just recently got a Acer netbook that i am going to be using pretty much just for ham radio, home to be up on Packet in a few weeks (have not even played around with that in a long time, but got to experience it at field day this year and want to give it a try.

also decided it was about time to keep a digital log of contacts made as well.

Thanks

We used Winlog32 for Field Day. Well, some of the guys did. I used Field Day from N3FJP. For regular logging, though, I use the logbook in Ham Radio Deluxe.

I love digital. It's all I did for Field Day. I did the 40M Firecracker Sprint for PSK31 from 8pm to 2am yesterday.

jaxshooter, What program and what is your set up for PSK31?

I started using HRD the other night for logging nightly contacts  like it so far but wanted to hear about others that were out there.

Noticed that HRD has a PSK31 software ability and that is what I played around on during field day

I use the DM-780 app within HRD. It replaced PSK31 (the app, not the mode ) which is still included. It's a very full featured application. Here's a screenshot from last night's contest. The SuperBrowser lets you look at every QSO that's being picked up. You can see that there are checkmarks by the contacts I've already logged and Xs mark those I haven't made yet.

There are just so many benefits to HRD it's hard not to recommend it. For PSK it can track all contacts to a website so you can check your digital propagation. Of course it's got DX clustering, ties into Google Earth, etc etc.

Here's a snapshot of my log from the contest. You can see how it gave me the ability to enter the exchange with the RST.

I almost bought ACLog from N3FJP but then I started using HRD for free. RoverLog looks very purpose-specific. Wonder how well it works as a standard logging app outside of contesting.

I've tried doing the computer thing,...  didn't like it, went back to using the "composition" style notebook. love it.

N3FJP I purchased the entire license and it is wonderful for having logging software configured for whatever contest and a great basic home log. Worth twice the money he charges any day.

For Windows:
HRD for daily logging (unbelievable program)
N1MM for contest logging (you can import your log into HRD to keep it up to date)
N3FJP for Field Day

I run Linux now and use Fldigi –– it now has an integrated logger and I'll be migrating to that.

I downloaded N1MM for this weekend's 40M Firecracker Sprint but decided to stick with what I knew rather than trying to learn something for the contest. I need to spend some more time with it.

Yeah, I used it casually when I ran Win. However it doesn't play with WINE so I haven't messed with it in a while. Well done though.

I'm excited about the recent Fldigi improvements –– the logbook addition combined with Flarq for NBEMS is a nice reason to dig in.

Are you playing with NBEMS? I've been chomping at the bit to play with it around here.

Just starting to learn about it. Still reading up on Flarq. Maybe one night soon I'll hit you up and we'll try to pass some traffic.

I need to get a beam up first. I think I'm going to stack one with a rotator on top of my TV antenna. I had one installed with my sat dish as a backup so it shouldn't raise any alarms. If it does I'll just say it's a new digital TV antenna.

Why d'ya need a beam? It should work with regular antennas too.

Silly me, I was thinking of the 2M SSB my friend and I were talking about. Ok, so now I'll say let me make sure it's keying the rig. I didn't get it to work the last time I tried. But now I have motivation.
