I'm looking for my first contact ever on ham radio.
50.125 is empty. CQ ARFcom? |

Wow, 6m is an ambitious choice for your first QSO ever 2 questions –– where are you and what rig are you using? (radio and antenna, and how is the antenna polarized?) |

Yay.... if you keep at it, you'll catch the e skip or tropo openings on 6.
Next weekend is the ARRL VHF contest, be on the air then and you'll fill the logbook on 6m. Be sure you know your grid square, and don't just camp out on the calling freq - if it's busy, activity sometimes goes all the way up to 50.200 or higher on SSB. Even a minimal 2m horizontal antenna would likely net you quite a few 2m SSB contacts as well if you can get something up by then. |

6m is my favorite band, been on it since 1988. Let me know OP when you need DM 45 in northern AZ. Email me if'n you want to set up a sked. I'll be free all day sunday. We'll see if it opens up.What's a "sked"? I've have two contacts now.My second was off a repeater on 2m with my homemade 1/4 wave groundplane. |
