Picked one up off of Ebay for my VX-7R as my computer does not have any serial ports.

Specifically this one.

I've got the programming software loaded.  When I plugged in the USB adapter without the radio connected it tried to load a USB driver that it can't find.  It shows up in the Device Manger as unable to find driver for a USB-Serial Controller.  There is no other info in Device Manager.

I've hit Dell and Windows Update and can't find a driver for it.  Any suggestions?

The original DB9 cable has a pigtail that this one does not.

Did you try plugging the cable into the radio and then the computer?

Tried several different combinations.  Finally found a USB driver from another manufacturer.  Up and running now.

I recently purchased a very similar USB cable for my Yaesu FT60R.  Which driver did you end up using?  What software are you using it with?

just a heads up, almost all of these cables use a prolific pl2303 usb-serial converter chip inside them.  You can find the newest drivers for them here.

I have the Yaesu programming software ADMS-1G for the VX-7R.  I found the driver software on another ebay ad that sells the cable:
