Ok I needed to update my handheld (ADI AT-600) battery finally went TU. So not wanting to spend that much as I don't use my Ham gear often. I am a Fireman so I use VHF a lot so having a unit that will do out of band Tx/RX is a nice addition then i will only need one radio with me.

So with some research I came across the Puxing 777  a 5W VHF HT with 128 Ch all the reviews I found were favorable, so I took the chance and bought one from ebay with a speaker mic, programing software, and throat mic, it was just over $100 shipped from china.

Well it showed up yesterday I charged it set up the programing software & cable on my laptop, as a bonus it will do 2 tone paging so i carried it today rather than my pager. Rx was terrific with very distant stations coming in. Tx was good on Hi & Lo.

Will up date as time progresses with my findings. But it seams like a decent radio for the price.

Lets see some pics and how about some usage reports?

Congrats on the new gear!

I bought 2 UHF PX-777's.  Gave one to AFSOC to try out, kept one for myself.
I haven't used them extensively tho.
Both radios had interference on certain frequencies that couldn't be squelched.  The interference was about s8 and beyond the squelch of the unit.
Unit one the one I gave the AFSOC cleared up its known interferences, randomly.
Unit two's persisted, until I disassembled it, the only thing that changed circuit wise was the ground between the main board and the face board,  the units interference problems immediately cleared up after reassembly.  I'm certain it was a grounding issue that was only present on certain frequencies.  A side note, I was able to pick up the interference on my frequency counter(vx-7) before it went away.

In all, it preforms like you'd expect a $50 radio to preform, probably a little better than it.

Ok here is a quick photo with a Standard CD for size reference. I checked the unit out with a fresh batt it does indeed put out 5W on VHF batt life seams to be quite good it has been on for 2 days straight with the screen/keypad light on and the battery has lost one bar out of 3 this is with little transmitting. I still am having a issue to get it to use channel 1 as a 2-Tone pager in the software you can set it & input the tones but it still allows for trafic to be heard from other stations.

You have to be careful about buying some of those cheap radios. With the exception of the Puxing, the rest are not approved by the FCC.

You will still need a second radio if you want to transmit on your EMS/Fire freq's.

I have been looking at these radios, but have pretty much poo-poo'd them, ( I am trying not to support the China thing.) But they sure make it hard to do when they price them this low, and they seem to get good reviews.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Puxing transceivers from people who use them.

I got a Feidaxin FD-450A (UHF) not too long ago for $60 shipped from China and it works great. If anyone is looking for a decent cheap UHF transceiver I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

True, but there might be issues if someone uses it on any non-ham freqs.
