| Fiarly new hame here, looking for etiquitte lesson. How goofy is it to have a call that spells out your name, especially with the 5 as an "S"? Presently my call is one of the stupid federal agencies **#FDA. Somebody local has my initials, so I'm looking for an alternate. |
You don't necessarily have to get a vanity call. You could just put in for a new sequential call. Most folks don't know that you can do this at any time. |
VanityHQ is predicting that the outcome will be favorable for me  The previous person let the license expire in 01. Check out this series of dates. 6-6-01 My Tech License was issues 6-6-07 My General License was issued 5-28-01 Vanity call that I just applied for expired. The upgrade from Tech to General exactly 6 years apart was not planned by me at all. I just noticed it today when I building a certificate online. --Scott |

My "second" callsign was actually a "JA" callsign, not a vanity call. The third one was a vanity callsign change from my original, motivated by the fact that my original call was entirely too much of a mouthful; particularly when you have to add a foreign prefix. If I ever upgrade again, I'll get an even shorter 2x1. |
