Are you storing/managing/building on external cloud/etc. We like Nebius far above all for pricing, flexibility, customization, etc. |

DFarm also very fine initiative: Imagine this: due to very nature of LLM, there is very real possibility that controlling/restricting/etc. TRUTH in one domain for public consumption? Infects the entire body of thought with "not logic is tolerated encouraged" equals un truth, hallucinations, etc. in entirely unrelated domains: example, no mathematical comparison of efficiency, altruism, economic progress between "cultures"--this is barely allowd now and will be fully suppressed ASAP--affect apparently unrelated domains in lets say, math or coding. I shit you not. Proposed this over a year ago on early Grok, and it booted up a bunch of alignment papers on this very problem: they know they can only allow public to have stupid AI. |

Remember, I am a humble 135, making sure the wizards are casting the right spells. "Are you storing/managing/building on external cloud/etc." This part is a 'No', though obviously, data is supplied to several models for 'assembly' once the data is packaged. Which is sort of a little annoying, as the current active use is only using publicly available data we publish on the company site. Possibly too paranoid, but that's a better starting point than 'Weeeeeee...!' Our model is always to have the pros beat it to death before anyone else gets to play with it. |

STJ you are paying attention and that is plenty/more than most, and your daughter and bf are paying attention, outstanding. Pretty disgusted that I did not manage/expand writing here with this cohort as core, there were many fine people here now lost through my own inattention, lack of discipline, and privacy concerns. The window to find an authentic group of readers is almost over--would it surprise you that one of the core reasons, there were a few, but this was one of top three that I ever wrote or published anything ever at all was to prove that a human, this human, composed that language on those subjects before AI wrote everything, all stories, films, media, personalities, visual arts--an eternity of first copies and then originals, a deluge, that would render an original human artifact as novelty only, like Amish soap, or and ancestor's tortoise shell comb? The only future value of human artifacts, very soon, will be sentiment, not utility. |

I spent about an hour today learning how to do gradient color swaps in GIMP so I could have an acrylic print made with the Boehm print in the wall paint color to go on the wall in my new living room...above the book shelf. 20 of those 60 minutes were spent fixing the bolt-face logo. STJ the knife will never be made by a machine--only a copy, of a copy. Bespoke artifacts will always have value to us, but that value will fade rapidly, like the compulsion for precision in language, now archaic. Had conversation recently with collector liquidating 30 years of Garands, none of what he called "children" meaning less than...40 years old? Had any further interest, as a youngish boomer in temperament and antique in language and values, this makes sense the same way a Glock or a Chinese drone appeals to efficiency rather than art in at one time only the observer, but now the user as well. It is a continuing wonder that the young have adapted to the sensation of plastic to be as reassuring as steel and wood. A Garand feels like both weapon and talisman, a Glock feels like a lie by omission, and drones will feel like trusting a cat to assume the duties of a dog. |

I got the opportunity to inspect something that's relevant to this thread/discussion today. Attached File It's current owner told me that it was commissioned by his stepfather who took it along when he jumped into Normandy on D-Day. I just happened to notice the scabbard on his belt and he was kind enough to let me check it out and take a picture. He told me that collectors have offered him surprising sums of money for it but he always replied that it wasn't worth anything, or it was worth everything because it wasn't for sale. It had bumps and scars to prove it was a user. As someone who makes similar tools, that part made me smile. I believe at one point in here we discussed how cool it would be to be the guy who builds the sword to slay the dragon. The knife above was a canvas that a story has been painted on. |

DFarm, that Randall is a...5000 dollar plus knife to a collector, and as you point out priceless to the owner. STJ agreed on appeal to certain people, again approaching priceless, but at scale not so much and many layers here: but future humans will among other things, control attachment as a method to control "joy"--writing about this now, in another context. Have a nephew, fully on board, values, interests, skills. Now owns a near ideal complement of useful tools, tending to the functional archaic: A Garand first, let's say, instead of an AR, and so on. No explaining the atavistic appeal of the Garand, beyond history, something about distribution of mass, sight radius, 30-06, 8 shots of overkill for man beast and all our fragile protections, the cycling of mass and softness of recoil, the economy of the loadout: belt, bandolier, bayonet. Nothing like it. An agile competent man with a Garand, a belt, a few bandoliers could pry at a war with a mighty lever, even now. |

That is truly haunting STJ. Wow. Very weird vibe these days, all waking hours using and studying edge case AI, implications, speed, the pure speed, Elon Musk's "tidal wave" hitting this year and then forever. It will wash away much or even most of the past for anyone under...oh, forty I suppose, and books are part of that past, text in general fading fading fading and very soon like paper stamps and fountain pens and radios with tubes that glowed through the back. 80 percent of books now are bought by women, and mostly romance novels, and that is a social affair where the the chatter is the point and not the content, of which there is none. Who here on this thread owns at least one Garand? That is a primary relic, still thunderous and useful, of what is now closing on a century past. No one will ever forget or ignore a Garand. Will be shooting the grooves out of a Garand come spring,when the mud dries out. |

We can watch the world, consciousness, civics, fracturing into constituent parts right here and now. I bear max responsibility for not turning this thread into a perpetual self hype machine, economic engine, cloning it across multiple forums, youtube, selling books and me me me me. Not my nature or the character of anyone here, "conservatives" are by definition self maintaining, values internal and not responsive to external validation, virtue signaling, public posturing and display. This will only increase as the world tucks its head down while the future becomes incomprehensible. There will always be a few left, so imagine this future: a meet up to note the most recent space elevator, videos of the first marriage on Mars and the first wave of aging reversals when some billionaire emerges as his thirty year old self, and you realize he will own everything forever, and so on. One of the possibilities that keeps nagging at me is what would happen if the US stopped enforcing international shipping for everyone and just guarded our loot? I mean, aside from the obvious issues third-world countries would suffer. I find it funny because we had the navy to own the world in 45 and sent it home. Now here we are again. Not due to victory, but due to everyone else's apathy. |

STJ--an eventual consequence of ubiquitous AI is the end of outsourcing manufacturing--or pretty much everything and anything--a kind of relocalization of all industry and labor-- not for a while, but eventually certain. So ship what to where and why? Aside from possible unique commodities. Analogy: your Optimus will someday be able to craft anything from bespoke tweed suits, the loom to weave the cloth, to filing a lathe from bar stock while you sleep. Every country will eventually be able to open source a previous generation of Teslas and Optimi bots that will build and maintain the Tesla and Optimus factories forever--Elon has hinted at this. It is this transition, the next five to fifteen years, where we will see some last wars for resources, influence, capital expansion, currency monopolies. |

Does fertilizer qualify as unique commodity. AI aimed at agriculture along with everything else to increase ROE for all commodity inputs etc. means if shipping exposed, reduce need for shipping and etc. Think tailored algae in vertical beds as feedstock for anything and etc. including oil. Look up Dr. Alex Wisner-Gross, no. 1 his class, last triple major allowed from MIT, on AI projects in the lab right now, today. And the end of capitalism etc. Not saying the next ten fifteen years won't be seriously ffed up. Don't see any way around that. |

All I am proposing...is that, if it's possible that there are countries/regions that cannot sustain their own basic food needs without imported commodities, AND, if it's possible the shipping of those commodities were interrupted, things might not go so well for those countries/regions. That might cause violence. |

CPN/rn commodities agreed mass move in all markets regions wars now and next ten years to control essential inputs, Greenland, Ukraine, Pacific Rim, South America, not going to end any time soon. But AI solutions for efficiency, substitution, local sourcing, and reclamation, repurposing, recycling, etc. a huge and developing market. STJ people not getting stuff shipped or shipping being sabotaged absent US protection--some version of this has to happen but likely part of the larger outrage of job loss worldwide, etc. The big no go zone is China/Taiwan one US aircraft carrier getting whacked, all bets are off, likely US and China slow roll Taiwan non independence some kind of face saving merge but who knows. No one in authority will touch in even the vaguest way the super obvious; AI is going to FFF up jobs to the max, and soon/already is.
