Anybody read it? Came across it on Amazon while browsing Action & Adventure Fiction. There are a lot of poor reviews so I'm skeptical but I like the premise. The main character is a security guard at a dollar store who preps and he has lots of issues lol. He bugs out on his ATV with a trailer to his retreat in the country.

Not bad. Not as good as his first one. But in fairness lights out was one of the best in this genre. And would be harder to top. +1 It's definitely not Lights Out II. It's more of a story that happened to be set in an apocalyptic milieu versus a story about an apocalypse. I liked it well enough, and technically it was a better book, with no typos, etc. But I just didn't like the story as well as I liked Lights Out. |

I liked it. Read it on Kindle when it first came out.
Honestly, I didn't have a single problem with the ending or the DJ char. I liked the contrast between the 2 main characters. I get sick of books that all end up the same. This has happened with many of the zombie books I've read; slightly different shades of the same color. |

I really liked it except for one part. It is a good book. I think you are talking about the part I didn't like. When they ate the chili , no mention was made of whether it had beans or not. I just finished it last night and was not expecting the way the book ended . Good read |

| I started it when it was posted online and made it to where DJ took advantage of the mom and I think I quit reading shortly after that. Turned me off to the whole thing after that. I enjoyed it up until then but couldn't get past that point. Won't be buying it but I've read Lights Out 2-3 times and will read it again. |

I have to say Collision course is one of my favorites in the genre. I especially like it for the same reason a lot of people dislike it - it doesn't necessarily end the way you want it to. It get's pretty real, and to some that isn't a good thing.
It is a fun and thought provoking read, you won't be sorry you bought it. (unless you despise books that don't have a happily ever after...) |

First of all, thanks for all of the kind comments in this and other threads here. Click To View Spoiler Wasn't it you that wrote the story over at Frugel's with the shock ending where everyone was killed off at the end of the story due to lack of preparedness and situational awareness that got a lot of the readers riled up? |

I just finished Collision Course last night. Was just ok.
Spoiler alert: There were some things that just didn't add up. DJ had done things like staged boards along his bugout route, practiced loading his trailer hundreds of times, and had everything meticously planned. Yet during all of that time, he never actually checked to see if his BOL even still existed? During all of that prep, never once did he drive by the BOL? Gabe put a used trailer on the property so that also tells me there wasn't a cabin or trailer already on the property...what's a BOL without some sort of shelter? Normally I would chalk this up to the character being an idiot but considering the amount of prep and practice runs that DJ had done, this seems to just be a hole in the storyline. |

I liked it. Comparing it to any other book is a waste of time.
Any author worth a pinch of snuff wont write books that compare to their other works. Some of the big name hacks do it and it bugs the hell out of me. They practically copy/paste with name changes and location changes. Halfast took a story that had you wanting to be one character and reviling another but turned you around with subtle nudges and a few hard shoves. You wonder how you ever thought that the one guy was such a squared away hero and the other was just a waste of skin. I enjoy his books and have three copies of Lights Out that i loan to people that I don't want to have to kill someday if things go bad. Between them reading Lights Out and One Second After, I have "awakened" almost a dozen people. Keep up the fine work Mr. Crawford. It suits you. |
