A friend of mine has a problem. A big problem. About 10 years ago something was released on his property. What exactly they don't know. They suspect from rumors they've heard is was a local university. All they know is it is some kind of cat over 12ft long not including the tail. The cage that it was released from was left on the property and it was big enough to fit in the entire bed of a truck.

Now they've seen the thing a few times he himself has only seen it twice over a 6 year period. They have tried everything from pit traps, bear traps, hunting it, baiting, you name it they have tried it. It is picky about what it likes to hunt too. It only kills bulls in their cattle herds and it never eats them completely. It takes few bites out of them. They went up in the mountains to try to hunt it and found deer carcases that were missing entire vertebra. So they set up game cameras and what they observed from it they determined it avoids people obviously, it stays away from herds that people had contact with for a while, it's grey. 12ft long not including the tail, and it runs all the time. Every time they've seen it the thing was in a full blown sprint this included when they saw it visually and on the game cams.

They put a bull out there that was dying and it didn't mess with it even when they tied it up. His grandmother has put a 30k bounty on this cat ( they think it might be a puma because one of his friends killed a puma a year back that was released on his property by what they suspect was the local university). It likes to also claw on tree's and climb them based off claw marks they have seen on the tree's.

They have shot the thing 13 times I think with 303, 10ga, 7.62, and 12ga. He personally shot it with the 10ga, saw the round impact and exit, and the thing just ran off.

They've tried hiring professional hunters and they too have been unable to kill it.

Got any advice I can pass along to him?

I'll talk with him to get more information. I don't remember all the specifics but I posted the gist of it.

I'll also see if I can get him to give me pics from the game cams.

Yep, they're bred for their special skills in magic.

OP, perhaps you should try a bait area with a fresh unicorn carcass.

Same question I asked in the dupe thread.

Does it shit?

Anything like that should be dropping steamers around the area, or you should find where it buried them.

I'm calling BS until I see pics.  12 ft long not including the tail???

However, I want it to be true, I just don't believe until I see some pics.

Update based of of information and some talking we did he's concluded it's more than likely a liger.

I was incorrect on the amount of times it was shot. It was only shot 4 times 3 times with British 303 and once with a 10 ga

Apparently it was the university of Maryland that dumped this animal and several others on his property and his friends. They have caught, bears, wolves, and things thing being dumped on their property as some cages have been left behind.

There's a lot of caves in the area and they think it likes to hideout in them. No luck on the gamecam footage though.

He might be taking me for a ride. I think I'm going to stop helping people in life. Guess that's what you get for trying to be nice and help others. Dying on the side of the road? Sorry you might be faking it.

Trying to get him some advice on how to either capture or kill it. Provided it's real.

Shooting any land based animal multiple times with a 303 is not shrugged off.  Either you are being trolled or you are trolling.  That or it is a big foot in disguise.

Enough. Not proper for a tech forum.
