I've been wanting to go shoot some P-dogs for a while now, and I've decided this summer will be it. The problem is I don't know of anywhere I can go, there's not a lot of p-dogs in Missouri So do you guys have any suggestions on where to look for an oportunity? I wouldn't mind driving a ways, but I would like to try and keep it as cheap as possible, camping instead of hotel, taking care of all my own food that sort of thing. Probably just two guys for a long weekend or something, around three days of shooting. ThanksPolytech |

you buy a varmint hunting permit and you get a map, you drive out on a million acres untill you find a dog town and shoot them untill your all out of bullets or they are all dead(you will run out first) The public lands are south central part of the state. (for hunting/shooting) you can camp any where you hunt. you can drive most places in a 2wd car or truck (4x4 is better if you have) there is another topic on SD dog shooting about a month ago in archives also I'm not sure what else to tell you, go to SD with guns and alot of ammo, bring $40 and your camping stuff, it will be hot so gring lots of water, a goot hat, and some thing to lay on, and shoot PDs all day long. South Dakots has a web site with permit info and some other things, but ton't know it off the top of my head. **google* ![]() Invisiblesoul |
I'm heading out there in about two weeks....Can I get the same offer? Thanks! Tall Shadow

| I just came back from Buffalo South Dakota on 6/4/7 . Only had 1 and 1/2 days to hunt dogs. My son and I shot 600 rounds and could have shot at more dogs. A guy out there gave us room and board and and took us to the dog towns for $125. a day. I have no complaints, plenty of action and a beautiful state. |
| I'm sure they exist, but I bet someone could make a killing setting up an exclusively prairie dog hunt that would include, pick up from the airport, varmint license, a guide to set you up at a dog town and a couple of nights stay at a cabin. Ive never looked at prairie dog outfitters, but I know the elk and deer outfitters are pretty pricey. |
Probably around september the way things are looking, I've got too many friends who are getting married and screwing up all my weekends ![]() Would it be more comfortable to go in say October so it would be cooler? Polytech ETA: is everybody shooting their own reloads or is there some "cheap" factory stuff that will work? I'm thinking about setting up a couple of uppers maybe one with some cheap stuff for the close-in dogs, and one with some more accurate (more $$) loads for the longer range. |
