I dropped the last tree for the year. A 40ft tall butter nut with a rotten base. I have some wood to split and the butternut to cut up yet. I took the mower off the tractor and put the front end loader so that is ready. The snow plow goes on the ATV tomorrow.
A freeze warning for tomorrow night so the last of the tomatoes will come in. I am sure there are still some small chores to do I have not thought of yet , but most of my pre-winter stuff is done. Just thought of something. New wipers for the truck and SUV are ordered. |

Here is the warning.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MILWAUKEE/SULLIVAN HAS ISSUED A FREEZE WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM CDT SATURDAY. * TIMING... THIS EVENING THROUGH 9 AM SATURDAY. * TEMPERATURE... FALLING INTO THE MIDDLE 20S TO LOWER 30S. A FREEZE WARNING MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE IMMINENT OR HIGHLY LIKELY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION. Of course if global warming was real. I would not be getting this warning and I would be basking in the 80's also. Soon I will get to play in the snow. Oh crap I have to drain the hoses & take care of the camper plumbing. |
| Cleaned out the gutters for the 1st time and will have to do it probably 2-3 more times. Put up some heated roof cables to prevent icicles and ice dams. Only get them on the roof under my skylights. That is a downside to skylights in a vaulted ceiling that I didn't think of when building. |

Cleaned out the gutters
Got the outdoor chairs/tables type stuff covered. A/C unit covered oil/ filter changed on the snow blower Camper will be covered today I'm keeping the lawn mower out for a month or so to chop up the leaves as they fall (I hate raking) I still have to get the "Summer" windshield washer fluid out of the cars and add the lower temp stuff. ETA: I have to get some furnace filters yet. I'll see if I can remember them while I'm at Home Depot tomorrow instead of on the way home.

Still don't have heat in the kitchen or bathroom. In fact, I only have 1 heater downstairs that is functional as of now . I hate remodeling Got the dent corn in yesterday from the garden. Drying in my mini grain dryer now. Disappointing how much we actually got. Most the cobs were only 1/4 size what they should have been. Need to run some antifreeze in the water lines in the camper today, but if that doesn't happen I'll just put the heat at 50 for the night. Need to get the ABS working on the truck: bad sensor. Also have to get the oil changed in the truck and Jeep for the winter. Generators and the lawn mower and 316 need oil changes too. I gotta get to work... |

Heating system out of commission, and there is a little snow on the car and lawn tractor. Well insulated house doesn't need it yet ... so we're good.
Sold the wood boiler not too long ago and included the heat exchanger. Need to get that section of pipe back together tonight to make the wife happy. Need to mow the asparagus down, button up a handful of things outside, and start the snowblower for the season. |

all the wood is split and in my wood shed.
I tilled the garden and food plots and have wheat/clover planted. I just turned off the water to the barn and drained the lines, so I will have to haul it from the nearest frost proof spigot now. I just restored an old AGREX italian spreader for the tractor and it is ready for spring. Got it for free, now it looks like a 700 dollar piece of equipment. I just have a few more things to do. |
